Master the Art of Touring: Preparation Tips for Performers

Master the Art of Touring: Preparation Tips for Performers Going on tour as a performer can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. From long hours on the road to performing night after night, touring can take a toll on your physical and mental health. That's why it's crucial to prepare yourself properly before hitting the road. In this blog post, we'll share valuable tips on how to master the art of touring as a performer, based on my expertise as a Vocal Coach and a Performer. 1. Vocal Techniques: One of the most important aspects of touring is taking care of your voice. As a performer, your voice is your instrument, so it's essential to develop proper vocal techniques. I specialise in coaching singers who can handle any style, so make sure to work on your vocal range, breath control, and projection before embarking on a tour. Warm-up exercises and vocal rest days are also crucial to keep your voice in top shape. 2. Physical Health: Touring can be physically demanding, so it's essential to take care of your body. Make sure to exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet to keep your energy levels up. Stay hydrated and get enough sleep to avoid fatigue. I cannot emphasises enough the importance of considering the whole person, including physical health, when preparing for a tour. 3. Mental Health: Touring can be mentally challenging, with long periods away from home and the pressure to perform night after night. It's crucial to prioritise your mental health during this time. Practice mindfulness and stress management techniques to stay grounded and focused. I understand the demands of touring and can provide guidance on managing performance anxiety and maintaining mental well-being. 4. Lifestyle Adjustments: Touring often means being away from home for extended periods, so it's essential to make necessary lifestyle adjustments. Plan ahead and make arrangements for your personal life, such as bills, pets, and responsibilities. Stay organised and create a routine that allows for self-care and downtime. I can provide personalised coaching to help you navigate these adjustments and maintain a healthy work-life balance while on tour. 5. Industry Experience: What sets my coaching apart from other coaching services is the extensive industry experience brought to the table. As a seasoned performer with the Metal band 'Gone Til Winter', as well as other Pop and Rock acts, I understands the challenges and demands of touring firsthand. The advice and guidance provided are based on real-world experience, making it a trusted resource for performers. Remember, preparation is key to a successful tour. By following these tips and seeking guidance, you can master the art of touring and take your performances to the next level. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced performer, the comprehensive approach and industry knowledge offered by myself will help you achieve your musical goals and handle any style of singing. So, get ready to hit the road and make your tour a memorable and successful experience!
